While I don’t join them on the actual rides I too love the thrills but I find mine between the pages of a good thriller. I love the anticipation, not knowing what’s around the next corner, and the feeling that comes with genuine fear at what’s at the bottom of that next page. A new thriller recently came into my hands and left me feeling like I’d plummeted down a roller coaster. Still Missing: a novel by Chevy Stevens left me frightened and shocked and eager for more. Here’s a brief summary of the ride Stevens took me on:
“On the day she was abducted, Annie O’Sullivan, a thirty-two year old realtor, had three goals—sell a house, forget about a recent argument with her mother, and be on time for dinner with her ever- patient boyfriend. The open house is slow, but when her last visitor pulls up in a van as she's about to leave, Annie thinks it just might be her lucky day after all. Interwoven with the story of the year Annie spent as the captive of psychopath in a remote mountain cabin, which unfolds through sessions with her psychiatrist, is a second narrative recounting events following her escape—her struggle to piece her shattered life back together and the ongoing police investigation into the identity of her captor.” ~ publisher
And like any good thrill ride, it was over way too soon and I just wanted to jump on again. Fortunately, Never Knowing (Stevens’ next book) is due out in early July.
Just in time for thrill seekers everywhere.
