Please consider joining us this Saturday afternoon at the Spring Garden Road Library for a poetry reading by PEI's literary star Laurie Brinklow.
Here for the Music (M), Laurie Brinklow's long-awaited first collection of poems beaches the reader on the shores of contemporary womanhood. Strewn with memories of the tumultuous journey through childhood to adulthood Brinklow's book contains the tidal pull of loss and renewal, departure and arrival that keeps a lover of islands so close to the edges of life and death.
Laurie is a writer and editor, and the founder of Charlottetown’s Acorn Press,
which she started in 1993 and passed to a new owner in 2010. Her poetry
has won the Atlantic Poetry Prize, and was published in the chapbook,
Scars (Saturday Morning Chapbooks). She was a co-founder of the Island
Literary Awards in 1988, was the founding president of the PEI Writers’
Guild in 1989, and received the Award for Distinguished Contribution to
the Literary Arts in PEI in 2002.
